We now have stocks of the new Track Tidy system that offers a new way of keeping track clean and free of dirt deposits. There is even a clever little device that hooks on underneath a bogie and continuously cleans track. Check out the video for more details.

Many folk come into the shop to see our fairly basic layout based on a Hornby TrackMat. We run an analogue 12V line and two DCC lines to compare and contrast the two systems. This simple layout has inspired both young – and older folk as well. Quite a few have started building their own layouts. These just go round in a circle – but they are still fascinating to watch. I guess it has something to do with the romance of steam in a bygone age. And of course, having just added a new diesel loco to the track with DCC sound, you can hear the sounds of the past as well. A Class 37 with full digital sound is just amazing!

We’ve begun to add a range of new plastic kits available from Zvezda and Dragon, both noted for their detail and quality of mouldings. We’ve had some excellent reports from customers. Zvezda is a Russian company and Dragon are Hong Kong based. Both companies produce a wide range of aircraft, military and naval models. We’re impressed.

BigJigs

The little train running in our window attracts lots of attention, especially from younger children. If they come in to the shop the first thing they want to do is touch the train and run it along the tracks. Youngsters love the idea of holding a model and running it along the ground. They don’t yet have the concept of control through a box.
So the perfect solution is a wooden train set where they can run the loco and wagons around a wooden railway track. The perfect solution for toddlers.

Since we opened, we’ve had a few enquiries about whether or not we’d be stocking Games Workshop – Warhammer and Lord of the Rings. In the end we were approached by Games Workshop and asked to consider taking in stock. We agreed and now have a good selection of games and paints. So if you are into war-gaming then call in and see us – and if it’s not in stock we can always order it for you.

For those who enjoy working in wood or have an interest in automata working models, we have just taken delivery of a number of  Timber Kit models. These kits come all ready to assemble and glue and introduce a number of mechanical processes that result in a fascinating model. We have a Beam engine, Stephenson’s Rocket, Drummer, Rower, Trebuchet and many others. Great Christmas idea!

Silverlit Spy Cam

The fantastic Sky Cam helicopter can take up to three minutes of videos or hundreds of photos whilst flying, upon command from the remote control transmitter.

Download the videos and photos from the Sky Cam helicopter to a computer with the USB lead supplied, and use the complimentary graphic software provided to adjust the picture quality, contrast and brightness for the best possible reproduction.

Loyalty Card

It seems everyone these days offers some kind of loyalty card – whether it’s for coffee or points on a collectors card. We have decided to launch a scheme that offers a £10.00 voucher or discount in exchange for 5 loyalty card stamps. So every time you spend £20.00 or more get the card stamped and once you have 5 stamps you’ll get your voucher. So plan ahead and get these Christmas presents now and get at least an extra £10.00 to spend on something else.

It has been a difficult decision but we have decided to close on Mondays through the Autumn and Winter months. We regret that this may be a disappointment to some but we find there is not sufficient time during the week to deal with admin; sourcing new products and generally keeping the show on the road. But as we approach Christmas watch out for late-night opening or extended hours at other times.

As a result of numerous enquiries, we have just taken delivery of a range of remote control cars and helicopters to supplement our existing range of Silverlit helicopters. The cars range from a small 1:40 scale BMW for younger children to large 1:10 scale racing cars for the older enthusiast.
